BOXING.
MONDAY EVENING'S CONTEST. The number of seats booked for the JohnsHughes .boxing match at the Town Hall on Monday evening indicates that great interest is being taken in the bout, and tiiat there will be a large crowd present. It is generally recognised that in Hughes, Johns will meet hiß hardest . opponent to date, even including Donovan, and it is thought that if the Aucklander can follow up his victory over Whitlow with a decision against Hughes, he will be a match for any fearther or light-weight boxer who may be brought to this country. Johns' short, but meteoric career, as far us performances against the best men in New Zealand are concerned, has turned the sporting spotlight upon him. and the result of the contest is being watched with interest in Southern centres, as well as In Auckland. The reduction in admission charges will also appeal to enthusiast*.
