RUNABOUT LAUNCH.
LOCALLY-BUILT CRAFT. SUCCESSFUL TRIAL RUN. A 16ft. runabout launch fitted with an inboard car engine has been built as a spare time hobby by Mr. K. Carter in a garage at Takapuna. The launch was given a trial run-out early this week and a speed of about 20 miles an hour was obtained. There is amplo .room for four passengers in the two upholstered seats which are set directly behind the engine. The craft has been built on the latest American design and her lines make her look very graceful in the water. Mr. Carter, assisted by Mr. J. Malony, built the hull. They took no small trouble in attending to the details, 'llio controls are mounted on a dash-board similar to that of a motor-car and a self-starter is used. A higher pitched propeller is to replace the one now used, and a better speed should result.
