CENSUS CONTRETEMPS.
ENUMERATORS DESERT. PROSECUTIONS CONTEMPLATED. LONDON, May 2. The Registrar-General reveals the fact that of 40,000 enumerators employed in taking the census, including 12,000 unemployed, 2000 defaulted, some of them in the middle of the work, without explanation. The prosecution of the worst offenders is contemplated.
