COMEDY IN EGYPT.
AGITATORS CHECKMATED. MAROONED IN THE DESERT. CAIRO, May 1. The Egyptian authorities adroitly averted a threatened political crisis by taking leading agitators for a ride. Nahas Pasha, Mahmud Pasha, and many of their followers, broko through a police cordon at Cairo station and in spite of broken heads boarded a train for Tantnh, intending to open a campaign of boycotting the elections.
The police uncoupled the three carriages containing the agitators, ran them into a suburban station, and then invited them to leave the train. They refused to do so and the train went on to the desert, where the party was marooned. The " joyriders " eventually left the train peacefully.
