STRUCK BY FALLING TREE.
YOUTH'S NARROW ESCAPE. [from our own correspondent.] TAIHAPE, Saturday. A youth, James Donovan, aged 17 years, was admitted to the Tailiape Hospital this morning suffering from injuries received through being struck by a falling tree. The tree fell in tho opposite direction from that in which it was expected to tall. It struck Donovan and pinned him between two roots, which prevented the tree from crushing him. Donovan's workmates released him by sawing through the tree and hurried him to the Tailiape Hospital. Donovans right arm was badly lacerated, but lii§ injuries are not serious.
