BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Mount Albert Wei faro Beautifying Society was held on Thursday evening at Ccturtbridge Flats, Sandringham, Mr. 11. E N. Matthews, presiding. The report, read by (lie secretary, Mrs. Florence Mcßride, disclosed tlio achievements of the society, including the changing of the namp of Edendalo to Sandringham, the changing of the name of Clark Street to Sandringham Road, the changing of the name of " the gully" Kingsland, to Glen-Oshorne, assistance in canvassing for funds for the obstetric chair, assistance in collection of funds for Flunket Society, rendering assistance in cases of hardship and sickness, assistance in collection of funds for the Society for the Protection of Women and Children, providing an entertainment at Christmas for the children of the district on the reserve at Pages' Store, obtaining permission from the? Council to plant tho scoria pit with suitable creepers. An interesting address on I lie objects of the society was delivered by the president, Mrs. E. Kcrruish, and the Mayor, Mr. L. E. Rhodes, and Councillors Fulton, Buckley and Carr expressed their appreciation of the services of the society to the district. The ladies entertained as guests of tho evening the Aroha League, on whoso behalf Mrs. Smythe returned thanks, and also the members of the Kingsland Businessmen's League. Soveral of the latter responded. ,
