FAMILY ALLOWANCES.
Sir,—As a beneficiary under the Family Allowance Act, I would like to enlighten some of the more fortunate, who do not qualify for it and who do not understand its application. Families can benefit by it only when the total income of parents and children under sixteen years of age does not exceed £4 weekly plus 2s for each child over two in number. Thus a family of five children with a total income of £4 6s does not benefit. The maximum allowance for each child over two in number is 2s weekly. A statement of the previous' year's income must be submitted by applicants and the sources of income investigated by the Pensions Department for verification. Old Father Hubbard.
