The Warwick Farm meeting on Saturday had a real New Zealand flavour. Chide ben.t the weight-for-age field in a style reminiscent of the dayß when lie was winning race after race in the South Island. Hiii finishing run was irresistible. Movie Star won tho second division of, the Two-year-old Handicap, through sheer merit, and Ilavaspot beat a large field of good welter horses at a mile. Both Movie Stai and Havaspot were ridden by New Zealand jockeys.

The Chipping Norton Stakes was run at a stinging pace; Balloon King, Veilmond and Waterline being hard at it in front for six furlongs. Then Chide moved up, and Glare and Tregilla came up from being tailed off. The cracking pace suited Chide, who wan up level with Veilmond, Balloon King and Waterline at the turn. Chide coming in and hampering Waterline slightly. Chide kept up his run and won well from Veilmond. while both Tregilla and Glare beat Waterline home.

Apart from Chide, Glare's finishing run was impressive too. J. Lowe, his old owner-trainer, has had a good look at Glare, and considers he is lighter in condition tliau lie should be to show his real form.

Although Movie Star was solidly backed for his race, his trainer, A. D. Webster, was just doubtful whether lie would see out the six furlongs. With 8.12, if was over tho last bit only that he really dominated the poiiition. lie has done well sinco arriving here.

First Acre secured third prize in the principal handicap, tho Autumn Cup, possibly rather luckily. M. McCarten took the ride on Havaspot in the Cahrornatta mile. Havaspot was always near the lead, took charge jnst past the turn and won nicely. Although he finished up equal favourite with Comanche, it was u good betting race, and his xiaity started off the tour well. DISTRICT COMMITTEE. POLO PLAYER'S APPEAL. The Auckland district committee met yesterday, Mr. H. O. Nolan presiding. An appeal by a member of the Waimai Polo Club against his disqualification by the club for 12 months for jostlintf was referred back to the club. The Franklin Racing Club's programme for its extra meeting on May 9 was approved

SYDNEY CUP CONTEST. THE DIMMER'S SUCCESS. SYDNEY, April 7. The Sydney Morning Herald says:—"ln the slowest-run Sydney Cup for years, The Dimmer emerged victorious from the smallest field for 23 years. After entering the atraiglit it was evident that only an accident would cause the defeat of The Dimmer. The Into withdrawal of Circle, Waterline and Soullon robbed the event of some Interest, but notwithstanding the small field it is also to be admitted the class of horse engaged did not approach tho standard of former years."
