Tho Department of Agriculture states that the gravity of tho situation confronting American farmers in endeavouring to dispose of their products abroad is emphasised by tho fact that tho export of tho principal agricultural products of the country declined to tho extent of £81,639,000 in the first two-thirds of the current fiscal year. Tho dominant features of, the export trado were drastic reductions in the exports of wheat and flour. The report says wheat and grain exports in February totalled only 137,000 bushels—tho lowest for any month since June, 1905. In tho eight months ended February 28, 1931, only 56,807,000 bushels of wheat wore exported of a value of £10,312,400. compared with 73,212,000 bushels valued at £18,796,600 for the equivalent period of tho previous fiscal year.
