AUTUMN HANDICAP.

A SPECTACULAR FINISH. MY OWN STAYS ON WELL. CORINAX RUNS UNPLACED. Tho Autumn Hnndicnp provided a mngnificent finish. My Own just winning, with Bright Glow nnd Lady Fnm in tho minor plnces. "Wagering on (he race wna spirited, nnd Corinnx wound up a slightly better favourito thnn Lady Tarn, who lind a good call over My Own. Sir Mond nnd Motere appeared to hnng at the start, Gay Cockade being in front quickly, to lead past the stands from My Own, with Lucy Rose. Bright Glow and Corinnx in a hunch ahead of Brampton, Sir Mond and Lady Pnm. Gay Cockndo was juut out from Bright Glow along the back, with My Own, Lucy Rose, Motere, Brampton, Sir Mond nnd Corinnx following in oiiler, Lady Tam nnd In tho Shade boing hint. There was little chnnge in tho positions at tho hiilf-milo, although Motere had run up third nnd Sir Mond was also mnking a forward move. Tho field bunched at tho turn, nnd Gny Cockndo enmo into tho straight just ahead of Bright Glow nnd Motere, with My Own handy on the rails, and Lady Pam, Lucy Rose and Sir Mond showing up on the outside. At the distance Gay Cockaife, Bright Glow. My Own, Lady Pam, Deport Glow and Sir Mond were all in the picture, nnd My Own stayed on best to win by three parts of a length from Bright Glow. Lndy Pam was a neck away third and Gay Cockade was fourth. Next to cross the line were Desert Glow. Brampton, Motere and Corinnx.

My Own was always nicely placed on tho rails until reaching the straight, where she h?d to come out slightly to get n run. She stayed on really well over the last furlong arid was drawing nwny at the post. Bright Glow was always well placed and battled on gamely. Lady * Pnm was in the rear until half ft mile from home, when she ran up smartly. She appeared to be just in front irside the distance, but the big effort, found her out. nnd she weakened in the last 20yds. Gay Cockade, Desert Glow and Brampton all ran good races, but Corinax was never going liko a winner.

LEITRIM TAKES SFRINT. AN END-TO-END WIN. A select field of sprinters lined up for the Huia Handicap and they provided a great race, Leitrim just winning from Go'.d Day, with Silvermine and Honiton right up. It was a good betting race and the bestsupported horses were Supremacy, Gold Day and Leitrim. Chroniadyne and Silvermine were smartest away from a good start, but at the end of the first furlong Leitrim and Gold Day were in charge to make play through the catting from Chromadyne, Fegaway. Toxeuma, Silvermine and Honiton. Leitrim and Gold Day were still the leaders at the turn, where Chromadyne, Silvermine. Pegaway and Prince Val were right np handy. Leitrim stayed on well at the finish and got home by a neck from Gold Day. who defeated Honiton by hnlf-a-length. Silvermine was fourth, succeeded by Gold Money, Fegaway, White Wings and Chromadyne. Leitrim began with Ilia usual brilliancy and stayed on solidly at the end. Gold Day was at a disadvantage with the winner in having to go on the outside of him. but ran a fine race. Honiton finished in well on the rails and Silvermine also came solidly. Supremacy never looked likely, but Gold Money was finishing on on the outside after losing a good position in the first furlong. SOLOIST'S FIRST WIN. PROMISING TWO-YEAR-OLD. Soloist was sent out a better favourite than Easter Time and Peter Jackson for the Onslow Stakes, and he duly scored, although ho had precious little to spare in a hot finish with Royal Artist, Peter Jackson nnd Easter Time. Soloist and Lotus Lily were smartest to begin, and at the end of two furlong 3 Soloist was just leading from Royal Artist, Lotus Lily, Persham, Easter Time and Peter Jackson. Soloist was still in charge at the home turn, with Royal Artist, Enster Time, Lotus Lily and Peter Jackson in close pursuit. Less than a furlong from the post Soloist, Royal Artist. Easter Time and Peter Jackson were almost in line, but Soloist came again near the post to beat Royal Artist by a neck. Peter Jackson was another neck away third and Easter Time right up fourth. The nest to finish were Lotus Lily and Curie. The winner is a half-brother by Hunting Song to Supremacy. He is not yet at his best and should be a smart horso next year. Royal Artist and Easter Time, who were badly drawn at, the post, both ran excellent races, Easter Time's effort with 9.12 being I really good. Peter Jackson ran another solid | race and was a shade unlucky at the turn, I where he had to come out wide. Lotus Lily j shaped fairl r well but the others were all ! well beaten.

rURIRI PARK'S SUCCESS. OUTSIDER JUST BEATEN. An interesing finish in the Nelson Handicap saw l'uriri Park last just long enough to win by a head from Grand Spirit, who was at a good price for second. The betting on the race look a wide range, nnd the favourites were Jenny Diver, Manawhenua and Rafflight . . (Jay Idea. Camp I'rin e and Purin Park were first to begin, Camp Prince and Ptiriri Park leading along the back from Pakitere, Rafflight, Good Idea. Catoina and British Princess. Camp Prince and Puriri. Park were still the leaders at the half-mile, with Operatic, British Princess, Catonia, Pakitere and Rafflight following in close order. Puriri Park showed the way into the straight from Camp Prince, Operatic, British Princess, Rafflight. and Maunaena. with Grand Spirit coming fast on the rails. Inriri Park held a nice advantage at the distance, and just stalled off Grand Spirit by a head. Good Idea was half n length away third, and Jnlldy Karo was fourth. Next came' Camp Prince, Spear Lnd and Jenny The winner registered a smooth performance. and should be a. very useful handicap hor.se next year. Grand Spirit cnme right, from the rear. She struck some trouble at the five-furlongs post, but after that was lucky (o «et a beautiful run right through on the rails. Good Idea was always in the picture, and should win soon. Jenny Diver disappointed, but Spearlad and Jalldy Karo both finished on well.

EAGLET WINS LAST RACE. GOOD RUN ON THE RAILS. On the strength of her good third in the Easter Handicap Mervette was considerably better backed than Chief Link nnd Eaglet for the Islington Handicap, but, ehe failed to reproduce her first day's form and was never dangerous. Chief Link and Eaglet began snnjrlly. Chief Link leading along the back from Envoy. Lucky Alice. Chief Joy., Eaglet. Volimond and Cynthia N. Chief Joy ran up to Chief Link at the five-furlongs post and they showed the way through the cutting from Lucky Alice, Eaglet, Valcuir and Volimond. The positions we.re prncticnlly unchanged rounding the bend, but once into the straight Eaglet camo through to win by three-parts of a lencth from Volimond. Cynthia N. was n. similar distance away third, and Chief Link was fourth. Then followed Patulahi, Lucky Alice nnd Tenakoe. Eaglet, was favoured with a nice run on the rails and finished on in her best style onco she got clear. Volimond also came home well, and so did Cynthia N., who made a sharp dash inside the distance to weaken just near the. post. Chief Link attempted to win all the way, but fadid in the last half-furlong. Mervette disappointed, never being closer than about the middle of the field.
