CROQUET.
AUCKLAND TOURNAMENT. The championship tourney of the Auckland Croquet Association was continued yesterday hut owing to rain interfering with play a few names only were decided. Following lire the results: — Championship Singles.—Section A : Mrs. Laurie beat Mrs. Webber. Section B: Mrs. Cole bent Mrs. Bnmbridge. Section C: Mrs. Schubert beat Miss Iveatley. Section D: Mrs. Keys beat Mrs. Baker. Following is the draw for to-day:— Championship Singlos.—Section D: Mrs. Cole v. Mrs, Bavey, Mrs. Gallagher v. Mrs. Clnrk. Section C: Mrs. Lowe v. Mrs. Schubert, Mrs. Coutts v. Miss Keatley. All other players aro requested to be rea-dy when called on. LAWN FOR BIRKDALE. A request was made to the Birkenhead Borough Council last evening, on behalf of the Birkdiile Tennis Club, that a croquet lawn should be laid down in tho John G. Kay Park for tho benefit of the Indies of tho district. It was pointed out that there was an excellent site for the purposo at the back of tho new tennis court. Tho work of levelling tho area was authorised by the council under tho No. 5 unemployment scheme.
