Miss Gladys Hamilton Fraser, of Auckland, has received word from the London School of Journalism that she has won the Northcliffo Commemoration Prize of £SO. The competition is open to all students of the school, and tho entries are judged by leading writers. j

At the fortnightly meeting of the Auckland Piano Students' Association held this week plans for tho forthcoming meetings were discussed. It was stated that prominent local musicians interested in the advancement of tho club have consented to give a series of lectures. During the evening tho following items were contributed: —Duet, "Slavonic Dance" (Dvorak), Misses G. Jones and K. Judge; " Caprice Viennois" (Kreisler), Miss J. Sinclair; " ti'Elancee " (Wachs), Miss Mario Jagusch; "Le Petit Aul Blanc" (Ibert), Miss Joyce M. Parker.

An At Home was given by the Nicholson Park Tennis Club at its courts in Mount Eden recently. Representatives from various clubs were present and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. A progressive tourna.m'Cnt, which was won by Mrs. Laurie (Campbell Park), with Miss Matthews (Mount Eden) as runnerup, was %vell contested. There were pressent Mesdames Garlick, Russell, Sutcliffe, Jeffries, Chamberlain, Laurie, Lawrence, Le Grice, Clements, Parker, Peak, Armitage, Misses Luck, Currie, Hutter, Jeffries, Oates, Owen, Lockington, Matthews, Entrican, Eccles, E.
