GRADING OF PIGS.

STATE SYSTEM APPROVED.

INFORMATION FROM MINISTER. [by telegraph.—press association.] PALMERSTON NORTH, Thursday. Advice has been received from the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. A; J. Murdoch, that approval has been given to the Government grading of pigs. In a letter Iho Minister stated that the principal point at issue in a recent deputation was the grading of pig carcases by Government officers. It had been decided to institute the Government grading of pigs in those establishments which were desirous of such being done under a voluntary scheme of purchase by hook weights and grade. Rather than wait until grading could bo inaugurated simultaneously at all necessary points, it had been decided to make a start at each point as soon as the necessary arrangements could be made.
