CONVENTION AT NELSON.

[BT TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] NELSON, Thursday.

In welcoming the delegates to tha Dominion convention of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, the Mayor, Mr. Moffatt, paid a tribute to the union's efforts for the betterment of conditions; especially of women and children in tha Dominion.

The president,- Mrs. Taylor, said t' l ® union acted as it thought best for tho good of the people. It trusted benefit was derived from the legislation promoted by the union. If only the women of the churches realised how they were hampered in their work for their children tha union would soon have 80,000 merabers.-
