A travelling fellowship of the Carntgia Institute of New York has been olifered to Professor James Shelley, professor of education at Canterbury College. The fellowship entiles the recipient to travel and study. It carries a grant of ,£SOO, hut no restriction is laid as to whtire it in to be used.
Professor Shelley said he was nob yet sure whether he could accept the offer. It was laigely a question of travel and i:a any casii ho would not be able to avail himself of the chance .until the end of the year. / % Dr. J. Hight, rector of Canterbury College, said negotiations were still proceeding in regard to the acceptance oE the, fellowship. These fellowships had beea awarded in New Zealand before, but not many. *
