MR. H. P. DONALD'S CAREER*.
HEAD OF AUCKLAND OFFICE.
The retirement on superannuation in announced of Mr. H. P. Donald, chief postmaster at Auckland. Mr. Donald has been in the public !er« vice for over 40 years and is 55 yearn of age. He entered the Post and Tcloi graph Department in Otago as a meissagi# boy. In February, 1891, he was appointee! distributing clerk at Dunedin and sab* S'jquently held various controlling posi<4 t:ioris, including those of supervisor in tht» telegraph offices at Christchurch, Wellingtin and Dunedin. He then became postmaster at Picton.
In December, 1921, Mr. Donald was apt pointed chief postmaster at Blenheim. In October, 1922, he became chief postmaster at Timaru, and in May, 1925, chief postmaster at Christ-church. He helcl tha l itter post until his appointment to Auck* landj in November, 1929, in succession to Mr. W. J. Gow, who became second assistant secretary of the' Post and Telegraph Department. : ,
