TWO WARSHIP OFFICERS.
NAVAL WRITER'S TRIBUTE.
References to two well-known naval officers appear in an article by the naval correspondent of the Daily Mail. Writing of matters connected with the Hawke's Bay .earthquake, he^said: — " Commander Morgan, D.5.0., is a .well-known character in the Navy, and his despatch, in which he intimates that he has the situation in hand, is characteristic of his ability, determination and common sense. Since midshipman days lie has been known to his friends as " Piggy " Morgan, having always been possessed ot' a fine presence which "carried all befor.o him." His genial temperament is expressed in a cheery laugh and smile. " Commander V.*A. C. Crutchley. V.C., who is in the Diomede, was first lieutenant of the Vindictive in the famous attempt to block Ostend in May, 3918, and took command when his senior officers were killed. He was awarded the V.C." for his gallantry in sinking the Vindictive between the piers at Ostend and for 'vis fine work throughout the operations on the Belgian coast.." N
