EDEN IN STRONG POSITION

I The final Series of matches in the 'r, Cricket. Association's senior gi-ailp championship was commenced on Saturday in perfect, weather. The wickets were fast, and conducive to rungetting, although the ball was inclined 1o keep low on occasions at Eden Fark. Tilts was responsible for the dismissal of several batsnjen. Tho outfields were also iast.

Eden, the leading team, is in a strong position in the match with University at Eden Park, having scored 108 runs -for one wicket in reply to its opponents' first innings' total of 140. In tho other A rection match Grafton has a strong hold on its gamo with Ponsonby, the latter compiling 170 in its fir3t innings, to ■which Grafton has replied with \93 for ,the loss of one wicket. United Suburbs scored 147 against Parsell in the B section, and Parnell replied *ith 115 runs for threo wickets. Play in tho challenge match for the Hawke Cup. between tho challengers. Waiapu, and the holders. South- Auckland, was continued in Hamilton yesterday. The weather wa3 fine, and i' - o wicket was 111 good order. South scored 341 on the first innings, and the visitors replied with fil.

Waiapu followed on, and in the second innings scored 191 (K. Spence 63. K. Kisslir.i 38. M. Gilmore 32. H. M. Akers, not out 1,2). Bowling for South Auckland N. Winger took two for 20, S. A. R. Playing at Pukekohe, the Pukekoho Club's team secured a three-point win from Waiuku. The visitors' first innings yielded 106 runs (.Tack not out 26, Sampson 22. Cameron 11).
