MR. WADDELL'S LONG SERVICE.

WELLINGTON, Wednesday
Mr. w. Waddell, Superintendent of the State Advances Department since 1922, has been permitted to retire on superannuation from the end of the month. His successor has not, yet been announced.
lli\ Waddell, who has been in the servies of the State Advances Department. sinM' ititib, was born in the South Island! and entered a mercantile office before joining' tho Government service. He wasi appointed officer in charge of the Statn Advances Department in 1897 and in 1901' was promoted to the position of deputysuperintendent, holding that post until 195!2. when he was appointed permanent hoac'i of the department. Mr. Waddell Ml a member of tho Public Trust Office ][»• va-itcnent Board, the Government Insurance Board, the State Fire Insurance Board, the Dominion Land Purchase Boa.'d and the Public Service Snperannuation Board. He was given the G.B.E, this year, his name being included in tins New Year honours list.
