AN UP-TO-DATE CLUB.
The latest addition to London's largest club for women, the Ladies' Carlton Club, Grosvenor Place, a fine new swimming bath, was opened to members recently. No leader of the Conservative Party was taking tho first plunge, no distinguished" woman supporter- of the party making the first splash. Any member of the club was able to "open" the bath. If there is to be any formal opening it will be later.
The bath is no mere dull swimming place, but a gay spot, complete with a cocktail bar, a cream and gold terrace for spectators, and a bright blue ceiling which is reflected in the water contained in a cream tiled bath, 90ft. long by 30ft. wide. The water is being warmed to a temperature of 72 or 73 degrees. The walls are a rich cream tint, six red pillars support six old Venetian lamps, bright green chairs with rush seats, and rush tables, arc provided for spectators; near the high dive hang two alabaster lamps; the dressing cubicles arc screened by curtains of bright jade-green oilcloth. 'Tho bath is a pleasant addition to the "amenities," including a' fine "squash" court, equipped by members of the Ladies' Carlton Club.
