LAKE ROTORUA SWIM.
DISTANCE OVER SEVEN MILES.
YOUNG MAN'S ACHIEVEMENT.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] ROTORUA, Tuesday.
Mr. James B. I)eas, aged 25, of Hamurana, yesterday swam across Lake Rotorua, from Hamurana to the Rotorua Wharf, 7£ miles, in sh. 30m. A light northerly wind was blowing and the conditions were good. Hinemoa's swim was thus exceeded for the first time by a European. Mr. Deas finished swimming strongly, in spite of the fact that the water was very cold. The task was undertaken as a benefit for the earthquake fund. '
