NGARUAWAHIA REGATTA.
MANY POPULAR ATTRACTIONS The popular regatta and picturesque Maori river carnival at Ngatuawahia will be held on. Saturday, and the attractions will be as numerous and entertaining as in previous years.
In the aquatic events keen competition will be witnessed between leading Auckland and provincial rowing' clubs.. The Maori contributions to the programme will include war cano© races, canoe hurdle racea and mounted swirftming faces." A speci-ally-attractive item is the ancient Maori race of " The Chase for the Bride."
Poi dances and hakas, performed by Maoris in their native costumes, are other features of outstanding interest. The highland dancing and piping competitions will appeal to the Scottish olemelib among tlia visitors. There will also be a great collection of side-shows and a first-class band. Refreshment, booths will be on the grounds.
