MISS MERCEDES GLEITZE.
LEAVING FOR SYDNEY. The v noted long-distance swimmer, Miss Mercedes Gleitze, accompanied bv her husband, Mr. P. Carey, will leave for Sydney by the Maunganui this afternoon. It is expected that when she is in Sydney she will attempt to break her British women's endurance record of 43 hours which shn established in the Tepid Baths, Auckland, last Friday and Saturday.- Miss Gleitze will remain in Sydney for about two weeks, and . will then return to the Dominion for her attempt to swim across Cook "Strait.
