GOLDMINING INDUSTRY.

AID FOR PROSPECTORS. PROPOSALS TO MINISTER. Proposals made by the Auckland Soldiers' Mothers' League with the object of fostering the goldminiiig industry in New Zealand have been considered bv the Minister of Mines, the Hon. A. J. Murdoch, who has replied to the suggestions made.

Commenting on the proposal that, miners' rights should bo issued for six months or more free of charge, the Minister states that this would involve an amendment of the existing law, but the suggestion would be kept in mind when any amending bill was being prepared. "The for prospecting assistance is now almost exhausted," Mr. Murdoch said, "but if I am successful in obtaining additional money tor such a purpose, 1 will be only too pleased to arrange for any new areas to be prospected by selected groups of prospectors." Mr. Murdoch added that the question of paying a bonus 011 the gold produced was also to be considered by the Cabinet.
