CHAMPION BOWLERS.

DOMINION TOURNAMENT.

WALKER DEFEATED TWICE.

1 BRIGHTING'S SENSATIONAL WIN. FINAL OF THE RINKS TO-DAY. Play in the rinks championship of the Dominion of New Zealand Bowling Association was resumed yesterday morning, when the filth and sixth rounds and semifinals were decided on the Carlton green. Owing to the heavy soaking of the previous day and overnight rain the green Was decidedly holding at the start, but under a drying wind improved as the day wore on. The two southern teams, Brightling, Hat.aitai, and Lobb, New Plymouth, survived the fifth and sixth rounds. Brightling had a good win over Walker in the sixth round. The Wellington team played considerably "better bowls than the Auckland Club men, the efforts of fho number two and three, Martin and Dr. Shore, being particularly good. The semi-final games were full of interest for the large crowd of spectators. Walker mot his second defeat in succession nt the hands of Deare's Dunedin rink, which was undoubtedly superior on the day. Tlio other game, between Brighting and Lobb, ended in rather a sensational manner, as the. latter was three up with one head to go, but owing to an opportune trial shot by Dr. Shore, the Hataitai third man, the way was paved for the team to secure five points, and the game by 17 —15.

The lin.il now rests between Blighting and Deare, and will be played to-day, commencing at ono o'clock. A game in the sixth round of the singles was played between Bell, Hamilton, and Muston, Auckland, but it was rather a one-sided affair, the Hamilton player being too solid. Walker, who had the bye in the rink 3 in tho morning, played off a round in the Eairs competition, his opponent being Alcityre, Iluntly. The latter held the ad--vantage in the early stages when his lead, Seccoinbe, was playing a really good £ame. However, Brackebush and Walker improved over the second part, and won • game which went to tho Very last head. Another pairs game between Pilkington, Hamilton, and Layzell, Devonport, was played in tho afternoon, when tho Hamilton pair won comfortably after petting away well in tho early stages of the game. This win places the Hamilton men in tho final, but they will have to wait for the winner of the other half of the draw, which is being held up by .Wafer's participation in the links.
