RIOTING AT BOMBAY.

INDIAN CONGRESS MEETING. POLICE FIRE ON CROWD. (Received January 2, 11.45 r.m.) DELHI, Jan. 2 The New Year was ushered in at Bombay by serious rioting in which nearly 200 persons were injured, 33 of them seriously. The Indian National Congress had planned a midnight meeting, to celebrate the first anniversary of the passing of the independence resolution at Lahore. Large crowds collected in various parts of the city and were dispersed by the police, who were stoned. Fifteen constables and two sergeants were injured. The police fired 12 rounds, and nine persons were injured by bullets. Similar disturbances occurred elsewhere, but the city was quiet at dawn.
