Mr. and Mrs. W. Hill, late of Rotorua, leavo to-day by the Marama for Sydney, on a visit to Great Britain and the Continent.

Mr. and Mrs. G. Hiscock of Hinemoa Road, Grey Lynn, are touring the North and are visiting their daughters at. Helensville. Northern Wairoa and Whangarei en route.

Among the visitors staying at the Hotel Ventnor, Devonporf, are Mr. and Mrs. J. Miller and son, of To Awamutu, Mrs. J. P. Wildeman, of Remuera, and Mrs. Littler, of Otahuhu.

Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Williamson returned on the Marama from Sydney. For some months they have been louring in China and Japan, and they expect (o stay five months in Takapuna before returning to Vancouver.

An enjoyable programme of entertainment was presented in the Grand Hotel lounge on New Year's Eve, when musical items by the Lyric Four and assisting artists, and a selection of card tricks by "Kardo" wero offered for the benefit of the guests. A number of entertaining part songs wero presented by the members of the Lyric. Four, Messrs. Ripley, Richards, McElwain and Colledge, and somo delightful soprano solos wero rendered by Miss Adele Taylor.

The Kihikihi Presbyterian Sunday School held its annual " bring and buy" sale recently. Opportunity was taken to make presentations to Mrs. F. Smith, wife of the district home missioner. From the Ladies guild, the president, Mrs. Lawry, presented a handsome silver tea service, and on behalf of the Sunday School and Bible Class Miss Mary McCrea presented Mrs. Smith with a silver vase. A bouquet was also presented her by Jean Sutherland.

The Mangere East Bowling and Croquet Clubs held a combined old-time dance in the Mangere East. Public Hall on New Year's Eve. Music for the dancing was supplied by Miss Burnside, Mrs. Moore and Mr. Midgeley. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Phyllis Kerr and partner. A special feature was songs by Miss P. Martin, of Wellington, who was the recipient of a bouquet from Mrs. Knight, president of the Croquet Club. For non-dancers a five hundred card tournament was played in tho supper room, the ladies' prize being won by Miss B. Key, and the gentlemen's by Mr. A. J. Roberts.

A very successful entertainment (rink placo at* tlio Grand Theatre on Tucsday niglit, when visiting artists on holiday in Ilotorua gave a programme of music and dramatic items in aid of the visitors' queen, Miss Mary Bertram, of the local queen carnival. Mr. W. Meredith introduced Miss Bertram, and thanked the organiser, Mr. Charles Prime, of Auckland, for tlio excellent entertainment. Tho following contributed ilenis: Misses Florence Penny, Valeska Jcnkin and Calypso Brooks (all of Wellington), Misses Kay Christie, Pew a Walmsley, Lowrie, McGregor and Peggy Cutting, Messrs. Chafi. Prime, W. Pussell-Wood, Pash and Pius Stewart (of Auckland), and Mr. T. J. Jenkin (Wellington). Mrs. Charles Prime was the accompanist.
