[by telegraph:.—own- correspondent.] I WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Wairarapa Cup contest to-day produced a tine race, in which the Awapuni . winner Royal Parade scored decisively from a good field: A furlong from home there were five horse 3 v/ell in the picture, hut over the concluding stages the winner drew out and won with a lot in hand. Historic was always favourite and the public retained their faith in Don .Tose by making him second choice from Arrow Lad •and White Fang. Royal Parade received ft check along the back, while Historic was also not getting the best of passages. Arrow Lad was still in charge when heads were turned for home. Stanchion was almo3t with him and, in a bunch, came White Fung, Shrewd and Historic, just ahead of Royal Parade. Down the running Shrewd looked a likely winner, but once Royal Parade got his head lie drew out and won easily by two and ahalf lengths. Shrewd, who made a fast run across the top, stayed on well to beat Stanchion for second money. Don Jose was a neck av. r ay fourth, followed by Historic, Arrow Lad. White Fang, Dainty Waya ond Staghunter. Historic carried lm big weight well. The check he received at the far turn was a severe handicap. Ho probably would not have won but lie would have been in a place. The weight found Arrow Lad out over the last pinch but, like the top-weight, ho rail nn honest race. Don Jose improved on Manawatu form. White Fang, on 1 liia race, should,no'; lie long off tho winning list. TO-MORROW'S PROGRAMME. THE LIST OF ACCEPTANCES.
