To-day an over-counter delivery of town letters (registered as well as ordinary) will bp made from the postmen s branch, tirst floor of Chief Post Office, between _ 7 p.m. and 8 p.m To-morrow (New Years Day) will bo observed as a close holiday. All mails will close at 4 a.m.. with the exception that, those for southern centres will close at 5.10 prn Only parcols for winch the 1 express transit" fee has been paid will be despatched. The midnight clearance will bo made as usual. There will be no delivery by •postmen. liiite fco letters may be posted at the chief post office up to G. 30 p.m. and at the railway station up to 10 minutes before the advertised times of departure of the express trains.
