Tor most people several days of holiday relaxation remain and there are still a number of sporting fixtures and attractions to which to look forward. To-day the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting will bo concluded at Alexandra Park, and tonight there will bo a broadsiding meeting at the Western Springs Stadium. •Chief among the New Year's Day attractions to-morrow will bo tho races at Ellerslie, and there is also a regatta at Whangai'ei and cricket matches at Eden Park between Auckland and North Auckland, and between an Auckland team and Pukekohe.
The Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting will be brought to a close at Ellerslie on Friday. On Saturday there will bo another broadsiding meeting at the Western Springs Stadium. A number of tennis and bowling tournaments are being carried on throughout the week. There will be games and sports gatherings in many country centres.
TRAFFIC ON THE RAILWAYS.
RUNNING OF EXTRA TRAINS. V
Train services from Auckland are being well patronised. The favourable weather lias tended to induce more extensive travelling, and large numbers of people have been leaving Auckland for the south daily. The volume of traffic to Auckland is expected to decrease to some extent from to-day until Friday, when the homeward l'lish will set in. Many holidaymakers will be returning to Auckland in •the course of the week-end in order to commence work on Monday.
The third express to Wellington from .Auckland will again lie run tomorrow evening, and, e,xcept on Saturday, will leave every evening until and including Friday, January 9. On Friday and Sunday a fourth express •will Vuvo for Wellington at 8.40 p.m. Extra trains will 'arrive from Wellington at 7.46 a.in. on Friday and Saturday, and at 1.26 p.m. on Sunday. While present arrangements are for the daylight limited expresses between Auckland and Wellington to be withdrawn after January 12 it is understood that should the volume of traffic continue to prove satisfactory there js every possibility that the services will be extended for some weeks after that date.
The extra daily trains between Auric-' land and Rotorua are being well patronised and these will be run until Tuesday. On Saturday there will be extra trains to and from Whangarei.

Attractions in the Waikato during the new year holidays include'a regatta at Raglan, sports at Whatawhata and To Aroha on New ear's Day, a bowling tournament at To Aroha commencing on New "i ear's Day, and several cricket matches' including olio between South Auckland and Wellington colts.
