KATIKATI FARMER'S FATE. BODY FOUND* IN RIVER. FALL INTO DEEP POOL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.) TAURANGA. Monday. A drowning accident, resulting in the death of Mr. James Campbell, farmer, of Katikati, occurred at Katikati on Saturday..
Mr. Campbell attended the milking shed on his farm at about 4.30 p.m. and then left to inspect the water ram in the 0 Waitekohe River. He. did not return' to tea and on a search being made his body was found in a bathing pool about eight feet deep. His clothes were on the bank, indicating that he had gone in to bathe. He could not swim, and it is surmised that he slipped from a ledge into deep water. An inquest wa<» held before Mr. A. P. Tunks, coroner, and a verdict of accidental drowning was returned. Mr. Campbell is survived by a widow and three children. LIFE LOST IN LAKE TAUPO. YOUNG MAN FROM AUCKLAND. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] \VAIRAKEI, Monday. An attendant at the Avondale Mental Hospital, Mr. Roger Beattie, aged 28, was drowned while bathing in Twj> Mile Bay, Lqjte Taupo, at mid-day yesterday. He was missed by a friend and a search was made, the body being found in sft. of water. It is presumed that he was stricken with cramp. An inquest was held to-day, when a verdict of accidentally drowned was returned.
