NOTED WOMAN SWIMMER.
BRIEF VISIT TO AUCKLAND.
The famous long-distance swimmer, Miss Mercedes Gleitze, conqueror of the English Channel, the Straits of Gibraltar and the Hellespont, in company with her husband, Mr. P. Carey, arrived in Auckland by the daylight express from Wellington last evening. They will return to Wellington this evening, as Miss Gleitze has made arrangements to swim there tomorrow. Miss Gleitze said she did not know whether she would visit Auckland later.
