OLD GRAMMAR SCHOOL.

DISPOSAL OF SITE.

PROPERTY IN EXCHANGE. The disposal of the old Grammar School site in Symonds Street was discussed at. yesterday's meeting of the Auckland Grammar School Board.

" Although the matter was practically settled by the resolution of the board that the site would be given up in exchange for other sites of equal value, the question still remains, ' When are we to have the sites?'" said Professor A. P. W. Thomas, who presided. " Wo should certainly be specific on that point before parting with the property," said Mr. A. St. Clair Brown. " New sites are urgently required. Our schools arc overcrowded and pupils will bo excluded this year for want of accommodation. Wo would bo very foolish to part too lightly with our endowments."

After discussion in committee, Professor Thomas, Mr. Brown and the secretary, Mr. C. E. G. Tisdall, were appointed the board's delegates to the conference to bo hold this morning botween the Minister of Education and interested parties. The following resolution was carried: — " That the board's delegates be instructed to intimate to the Minister that the board will hand over the Symonds Street site in exchange for the vesting in the board of property of an equivalent value satisfactory to the board."
