BUSINESS MEN'S REQUESTS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PUKEKOHE. Friday. The Pukekohe Chamber of Commerce decided to ask the commercial representative of the Post and Telegraph Department to meet the chamber to discuss the question of reducing the number of telephone exchanges in the Franklin district by incorporating the smaller exchanges with the larger ones. It was also agreed to urge on the department the constitution of the Pukekohe Post Office Savings Bank as a ledger office to servo depositors throughout the Franklin County and the'nortliern portion of Raglan County.
The executive of the chamber was empowered to. appoint a deputation to the Pukekohe Borough Council in support of the petition by 100 ratepayers asking that a poll be taken on the proposal to raise the balance of the money requh'ed for the installation of a sewerage system in the closely-settled portion of the borough. A motion favouring closing by the business premises in Pukekohe from the Wednesday night, till the following Monday morning, both at Christmas and New Year, was carried unanimously.
