AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. QUESTION OF DECLARATION. COUNTRY WEEK SUGGESTED. Tito appeal for a ruling lodged by tho United Suburbs Club regarding North Shore's right to declare prior to tho start of tho second day's play was again mentioned at a meeting of the management committee of the Auckland Cricket Association last evening, when tho chairman, Mr. E. E. Nalder, reported that a closer perusal of tho rules had revealed a clause to deal with such a contingency. The rulq stated that providing the side declaring notified its intention in sufficient time for the opposing team to choose the roller it preferred, then play would start to time, otherwise an extra 10 minutes could be allowed for rolling. An application from the Umpires' Association for afliliation was granted, and it was decided to donate £3 3s toward tho association's funds. Tho Umpires' Association also requested that the management committee circularise club secretaries asking them to approach retired members of their clubs with a view to getting them to join the Umpires' Association. Tho chairman mentioned that such a movo had already been spoken of by the committee, and ho was in accord with the Umpires' Association's deBiro to increase its membership. Staling that its representative team would bo touring about Christmas time the North Auckland Association forwarded a request that tho Auckland Association try to arrange a couple of matches in Auckland for its team at that time. It was decided to refer tho matter to tho country committee. Mr. N. C. Snedden remarked during the course of a discussion on tho country committee's work that an effort be made to hold a country week in Auckland in alternate seasons when the Auckland representative team was travelling. It. was resolved to leave this mailer in the hands of the country committee. A request for affiliation received from the Kaipara Association was granted. Sympathetic reference was made by members of tho committee to tho recent accident in a Suburban Association senior grade match, when K.
