TAMAKI TRANSPORT.

•Sir. — Both your correspondents "Ab Uno Disce Omnes" and "Old Timer" make their main theme the high fares charged on the buses. Has not tho Ratepayers' Association a responsibility regarding this? If they really represent the Tamaki district, as stated by your correspondents, why were they unable, out of nearly 3000 population, to obtain the 200 annual tickets required to reinstate tho boats and thus keep fares at a competitive level ? I still contend that they do not represent the majority of residents. Will either correspondent state the number of members? Further, neither of your correspondents has proved that buses run by tho Transport Board would bo a benefit, especially when one considers the existing bus services run by that body, both from tho point of view of service and finance. -Again, neither has denied the right of the main road residents to transport, in fact, " Old Timer" meets my suggestion halfway, but it does not alter tho fact that a Newmarket or Symonds Street worker will be penalised if he has to go to the city via the waterfront road and then over to his destination by tram.
