THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE.

LITTLE CHANGE IN VALUES

A slightly erratic market was recorded on tho Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Although quotations for most of the better-class securities were maintained on current levels, tho market did not show the firm tono of tho previous day and prices in a few instances tended to bo a little easier. Moro activity was shown in the gilt-edged section and two sales of long-dated local'body debentures were made. New Zealand Inscribed Stock, 1936, 5i per cent, was dealt with at £99 ss, 'the price at which a sale was made on Monday. In the banking group Commercials had sale at 17s 8d and 17s 9d, compared with business at up to 17s 10d at Christchurch on Monday. Quotations lor other banks showed little change. Insurances were quiet. Buyers of South British moved up to 565, compared with the last sale at 555. New Zealands had buyers at 42s 3d, compared with 42s 9d on Monday. In tho loan and agency section Uoldsbrough Morts were a shade firmer. Buyers came in for Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering at 555, but sellers were not attracted. A sale of Auckland Gas (con.) was put through after tho closing call at a gain of 2d on the market at the time of tho last sale, a fortnight ago. \\ liangarei Gas were offered at Bs, but buyers were not attracted. New Zealand Breweries had buyers at 465, but sellers were not interested. In the miscellaneous section buyers of Australian Glass remained in at 275. Sellers of British Tobaccos at 36s failed, to draw a buying offer. The market for Colonial was a little easier, with buyers at £34 ss, compared with £34 15s, the previous day. Further sales of Electrolytic Zinc (pref.) wore made at the current price of 19s. New Zealand Farmers' Fertilisers changed hands at 16s 3d, a gain of 3d on the price at tho previous sale, three weeks ago. Mount Lyells were a shade, easier.
