OFFENCES BY DRIVER.
UNTRUE STATEMENT MADE
FINES ON FOUR CHARGES
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON', Tuesday.
A young man, .Tames Martin, telephoned to the. police about three hours after the car he was driving had collider] with another and stated that his car had been stolen. By.doing so Martin apparently thought he would escape responsibility. Next day he. told the police that his first statement was untrue and that he was driving the car.
Tn the Magistrate's Court to-day Martin was fined £lO for reckless driving and ill on each of the following charges:— Failing to report the accident, failing to stop after an accident and having no driver's licence. He was prohibiteci fiom holding a licence for 12 months.
