COUNCIL SEAT RESIGNED.
ACTION OF THAMES MEMBER. STATE INSURANCE AGENT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —O'IVN CORRESPONDENT.! THAMES, Tuesday. Mr. A. G. T. Bryan, a solicitor, of Thames, has resigned his seat on the Thames Borough Council. His action is the outcome of a suggestion that as ha held the agency for the State Insurance Office, which had, for eight years past, handled all the council's insurance business, he should not be a member of the council. Since his election, however, he bad taken no part whatever in the business, which had all been transacted direct with the Auckland office, but rather than have any question about the matter, and ■* the expense of a by-election would not be involved, he preferred to resign,
