A resolution from the Tikorangi branch txprcssion the opinion that the Dairy Produce Export Board was too expensive and recommending that tho number of members be reduced to five and the levy cut down by half was passed by the North Taranaki executive of the Farmers' Union to-day. Mr. J. N. Bl.yde said he believed the board had a reserve of about £39,000 that it did not know what to do with. The board was far too expensive. Twelve members received £2O each a meeting, with expenses paid. Tho chairman received £750 a year and his trip Home had cost £I4OO During tho time be was away tho acting-chairman had received £750. The industry could not fefford this.
Although 1m had supported dairy control, said Mr. Vickers, ho thought the board as at present constituted was superfluous. ft had "been appointed to market produce arid at present was merely acting ns agent in the arrangement of shipping and allied matters, which could be done fib a much reduced cost.
