CONDITIONS IN THE SOUTH. Auckland.— Following the boisterous westerly conditions on Thursday, the weather was fine and sunny yesterday, the wind having changed to tlio north and moderated to a light breeze. The barometer was practically steady nt 29.85 in. last evening. Wellington. —Although the weather was again variable yesterday, it was an improvement on the preceding day. Showers in the morning were succeeded by sunshine until late afternoon, when the sky again clouded over. Tlic night was fine, but cloudy, with the wind from the north. Christchurch.—The weather was dull, but warm, yesterday, with a moderate breeze from the north-east. The maximum temperature was 61 degrees. 'lho barometer was unsteady, the reading in the evening being 29.45 in. Dunedin.—The weather was fine at Dunedin in the early part of the morning yesterday, but dull and overcast for the remainder of the day, with a fresh wind from the north east. The maximum temperature was 63 degrees. The barometer wa* still low, but fairly steady, the reading last evening being 29.30 in.
