CHRISTMAS MAIL.

DESPATCH FOR EUROPE. NIAGARA ON TUESDAY MORNING. What is expected to be the largestletter mail of the year will be despatched from Auckland for Europe on Tuesday morning by the Royal Mail liner Niagara. The mail will be the last to reach Great Britain before Christmas and with its despatch there will be the usual rush in dealing with the vast amount of correspondence inevitably delayed almost until" the last minute. In view of this it is the desire of the postal officials that mail should be posted as early as possible before Tuesday. By doing so the public will relieve the rush considerably. For those who still wish to send copies of tho Christmas number of the Auckland Weekly News to friends abroad Tuesday's mail will provide a further opportunity. The fee by this route is 5d a copy, the only alternative, at Id a copy, being the mail to be despatched from Auckland on Tuesday evening by the Hertford. However, the Hertford's mail will not reach London until December 26. The Niagara's mail will arrive on December IS.

The mail to be taken by the Hertford was to have been despatched by the "fainui, from Napier, but her departure having; been delayed the mail will now close nt three o'clock on Tuesday afternoon and will be sent by the Hertford.
