DESTRUCTION BY FIRE.
FARMHOUSE AT RAMARAMA. FLAMES FANNED BY WIND. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] BOMBAY. Friday. Fire destroyed an eight-roomed farmhouse at Ramarama last night, the residence of Mr. George Gaskill. The family escaped in their night attire. After the family had retired to bed. Mrs. Gaskill noticed a smell of smoke and her husband discovered the back portion of the house was alight. At first he thought it would be possible to extinguish the flames, but the high wind fanned them and the house was burned to tho ground in less than half-an-hour. At one stage it was feared the fire would spread to adjacent sheds, whero sheep were shut in ready for shearing next day and where a quantity of newlyclipped wool was stored. The building was insured for £575 and the contents for £350, both policies being held by the Eagle, Star and British Dominions Office.
DWELLING Off THAMES COAST. NOTHING SAVED FROM FLAMES. [BY TELEGBAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] THAMES, Friday. A house at Kereta, on the Thames Coast, owned and occupied by Mr. R. H. Jamieson, was destroyed by fire last evening. There was no water supply and nothing could be done to save the house. The insurances are £SOO on the building and £2OO on the furniture, but Mr. Jamieson is a heavy loser.
