LOSS OF VOICE.
BV A PHYSICIAN. Laryngitis is the namo given inflammation nf the vocal cords, which lie inside llie Adam's apple, llawness of the throat, hoarseness and sometimes complete loss of voico above a whisper arc the ordinary svmptoms. Swallowing is, of course, unaffected, becanso food passes down the gullet behind the windpipe. Treatment is quite simple. Get somo Friar's balsam and put a tcaspoonful into a pint of bailing water in a jug. Wrap a towel round your head and brcatlio 'deeply the steam that is given off. This should be done two or three times a day, but you must not go out into the open air for at least an hour after treatment. Simple laryngitis should clear up in from two to soven days. If it doesn't, you should consult a doctor, in case there is sonic serious underlying cause.
