DISPLAY BY GIRLS.

INTER-HOUSE ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL FIXTURE TO-DAY. Recognised as one of the most entertaining outdoor events of the year, the annual display of the Auckland Inter-House Girls' Sports Association will be held at Carl aw Park this afternoon Past displays hav# proved the popularity of this annual fixture, and a large gathering of the public is expected at this year's event. The association exists for the promotion of goodfellowship and good health among the girls of the various business houses in the city. For the past few months, competitors have been preparing. Several practices have been held under tha guidance of Lieutenant T. P. Laffey, and the girls have entered enthusiastically into the spirit of the contests. The following teams will be seen to* day:—Milne and Choyce, Farmers' Trading Company, Plummer Hat Company, Bradstreet's, Robinson Brothers, Ambler and Company, Mackv, Logan, Caldwell, R. Greer and Son, George Court, John Court, Woohvorth's, and a composite team, the "Rovers," from the smaller houses.

It is stated that the standard of work this year is higher than before. The programme will include several ream, events in addition to the usual racing contests The games this year are all new; A special feature will be the revival of the former girls' brigade, a team of 100 girls equipped with dummy rifles and bright tunics. A "wooden soldiers' " item will be given by another team of 60 girls. A massed physical drill display and a gymnastic tableaux will be staged by other parties. The finals of the physical drill contest will also be held. At the elimination contests this week, Greer's, Plummer's, John Court's and Milne and Choyce's teams were selected for the final. Perhaps the most imposing portion of the display will be the grand march past and assembly, there being a special cup for the best team in this event.
