HOLIDAYS ON RAILWAY.
SECOND DIVISION MEN. RESOLUTION OF PROTEST. [BE telegraph.— own correspondent.] WHANGAEEI, Thursday. At a meeting of tho Whangarei branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants great exception was taken to tho second division' 3 being penalised, so far as departmental holidays wero concerned, and a resolution was carried deploring tho lack of constructive information submitted to tho Royal Commission, inasmuch as the higher-salaried officers aro not to bo asked to sacrifico anything, while the second division in its entirety is to bo sacrificed by retrenchment and other penalties. Tho resolution concluded by stating that tho meeting had no confklcnco in the present Government.
