BIRKENHEAD WOMEN.

The 1930 session of tlio Birkenhead Women's Association was brought to a close by a social gathering in the Parish Hall, Birkenhead, on Wednesday evening. The president, Mrs. J. P. McPhail, Mayoress, presided, and there was a largo attendance. Congratulatory addresses were made by Mrs. D. P. O'Lcciry, on behalf of tho Northcote Women's Progressive League, and Mrs. Cain, representing the Birkdale Women's Institute. Tho Mayor, Mr. J. P. McPhail, said t lie association had been of groat assistance in the various appeals made for benevolent purposes, and particularly good work had been done in connection with the Relief Committee, which had distributed £SO for necessitous cases during (he pasfcfmonth. An enjoyable programme included songs by Mrs. C. Davenport, Misses Yea a 1 iulchinson and Phyllis Johnston, and elocutionary items by Miss Dorothy Mills.
