Affer rain overnight the weather was showery for training operations nt Eilerslio yesterday, when tho work was carried out on tho No. 2 grass, which was in good order in spito of tho rain. Comparatively few horses were sent against tho watch, although several worked very nicely, among them being Gold Money, Eager Rose, Cynthia N. and Karangapai. l Imperial Princo and Good Idea wero timed to run five furlongs in 1.7. They wero kept up to their work and were on terms at tho finish. C6rinax, after doing a steady round on the sand, strode over fivo furlongs on tho grass in 1.10 3-5. Corinax is progressing very satisfactorily in his preparation, but will not be thoroughly ready for some time yet. Lightly weighted. Gold Money ran five furlongs from practically ft stand in 1.5. Although Bho has not raced lately, Gold Money has had a good preparation for the Waikato Cup and track form suggests that she is likely to make a bold showing. With a light boy in tho saddle. Eager Rose gave Patutahi a good Btart and finished just behind him at the end of seven furlongs, which she ran in 1.33 • 2-5. She went very smoothly throughout. ''A man who can produco Pilar Lap in such splendid condition every timo he races and also preparo tho winner of tho Maribyrnong Plato is worthy of tho highest praiso." So remarked James Scobio, tho doyen of Australian trninors, to somo friends a fow days ago when discussing H. R. Telford, lessee-trainer of the Melbourne Cup winner, nnd trainer of tho Maribyrnong Plato winner La Justico. That was a high tribute from a man liko Scobio, and it was mado in nil sincerity, Tho success of La Justice, her second in Melbourne, was another advertisement for Now Zealand, for tho filly was bred in the Dominion, being by Chief Ruler from Rnpturo. Prior to her win in n division of tho St. Albans Handicap nt Mooneo Valley La Justico had been in dolicato health, nnd Telford experienced considerable troublo with her. In that raco sho brilliantly defeated tho A.J.C. Gimcrack Stakes winner Bassanton. Most racegoers considered that tho Maribyrnong Plato would bo too rich for tho filly, and sho wns allowed to go out at n long price. However, sho won brilliantly from tho Heroio colt Bold Bid, and the Great Star gelding Starstone. The race was worth moro than £2OOO to the owner of tho winner. This lias been a great meeting for Telford. RACING FIXTURES. November 15—Canterbury Jockey Club. Novomber 15, 17 —Waikato Racing Club. November 19, 20—Winton Jockey Club.
