LEAGUE OF PENWOMEN.

The members of the dramatic section of the League of Now Zealand Perns-omen welcomed as their guests Madame Edith Baird and her pupils, Misses Belly Young, Enid Kelly, Joan Kelly and Zoo Miller, During the evening the latter gavo three graceful dances as an illustration to a delightful talk given by Mrs. Victor Mncky on " The Child in Poetry."

Mrs. Macky dealt extensively with the child poetry of poets of our own and .other nations, and read 'many charming little examples to .illustrato the different points brought to the notice of her audience. Several songs typical of childhood days wore sung by Miss Edna Craig, and Madame Edith Baird gave a most interesting rendering of a. clover song of her own composing. Miss Denise Holmes recited two appealing children's poems and to illustrato (ho writings of (lie modern poets in this direction compositions by A. A. Milne and Robert Louis Stevenson were recited by Miss D. Messer, Miss V. Spurting and Miss G. Peacock. A clever skit on free verso entitled " Brummagem" by Miss Oona Burton was read by several members. Those present wore:—Madanio Edith Baird, Mrs. Victor Macky, Mrs. Sydney Smith, Mrs. Colhoun, Mrs. Kingsley, Mrs. McKinnev, Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Holmes, Misses Spurling, Burton; Whitolaw, Edell Jones, D'Arcy Jones, E. Craig, Manning, G. Bertram, N. L. Dash, G. Peacock, Evans, M. Burns.
