AGRICULTURAL SHOW.

question of dates. CLASH WITH SCOUTS' RALLY. The unfortunate clashing of the date of "People's Day" at the forthcoming Auckland show and the date of the combined rally of Coy Scouts and Girl Guides in honour of the visit of Lord and Lady Baden-Powell, was considered at a meeting of the council of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association yesterday afternoon. After considerable discussion in committee it was resolved to appoint a special delegation to confer with the Boy Scout authorities on the matter. It was felt that the holding of the two gatherings on the same date, February 28, would be detrimental to the association. A recommendation that the GovernorGenera!, Lord Bledisloe, should be asked to officiate at the opening of the show was endorsed.

On the motion of Mr. W. J. VV. Pascoe it was unanimously decided to support the proposal that the management of the railways should be taken out of political control and handed over to a board of directors. Mr. Puscoe stated that the question was a national matter and in his opinion the Railways Commission had compiled one of the finest reports that had ever been presented to Parliament. Unless public bodies supported the commission's report the losses on the railways were likely to continue. The nomination of Mr. N. G. Gribble, secictary of the New Zealand Land Settlement and Development League, as one of tho two Government members of the Unemployment Board, has been approved and his name has been forwarded to the acting-Prime Minister, tho Hon. E. A. Hansom, Tor consideration.

The following committee was appointed in connection with next year's winter exhibition:—Messrs. ,T. T. F. Mitchell, president, S. Austin Carr, H. C. Grierson, S. Hamlin, 11. S. W. King, E. D. McLennan, W. W. Massey, J. Meyer, W. J. W. Fascoe, W J. H. Reynolds, A. J. Stratford and R. Wright.
